Glimpses of Her Higher Calling

See how I live life day to day, as a wife, as a pastor's wife, as a mom of 2 adults, as a child of God.

Scripture Memorization

Not a very catchy title. I wanted to use “You Grow Girl!” Or “Way To Grow!” But those seemed too silly. But still cute I think. 🤭

Anywho, I’ve been wanting to memorize scripture for a while now. So, I put my want into action.

Psalm 119:10-11 says “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I may not sin against You.” And to hide His word in your heart you have to know it. Read it, reread it and read it some more. Over and over. Each time you do it will get easier and things will connect more and more. Names mean things and places stick in memory.

After that write it! Pick 5 verses that stick out to you and write them. Everyday. Read the same 5 and write them daily until you write them by memory and can skip days and still remember them. Think about them throughout the day.

It doesn’t take anything fancy! A pen, notebook or paper, Bible or Bible app, and if you want to write the verses on notecards that you will be learning, notecards. But they aren’t necessary. Make it part of your devotional time. Not that those 5 are your daily reading but part of your study time.

If you’re like me, you forget things. Ask God to help you remember His word. To help you write it on your heart. Pray His words to Him. That’s another wonderful way to expand your prayers. When you know the word and you pray the word you are speaking His words back to Him! And it’s powerful!

Father, today I ask that whomever is reading this short devotional and thinks they could never do it, well I ask that You help make it possible. Not by power, not by might, but by the Spirit, empower my friends and myself to be able to retain Your Word. May we grow in knowledge of You today! Amen

Love you all! Now get in there and grow! ❤️ Kerin
